guiWeather tracks storm injuries and damage

Did you know that it’s not uncommon to have dozens of tornadoes reported in the U.S. in a single day? Now you can watch the reports come in, accurately mapped in Google Earth, as events unfold.

The latest KML from the guiWeather team shows storm reports for tornadoes, damaging winds and hail, complete with descriptions of injuries and damage. This example shows a confirmed tornado in Missouri earlier in the week.

You can select to view yesterday’s reports, today’s or just the most recent. When you save this to your Places directory, it will auto-update when you reopen Google Earth, and every five minutes as you keep Google Earth open. Hurricane Dean is the third most intense Atlantic hurricane to make landfall since record-keeping began in the 1850’s. Did you know that you can track all Atlantic storms since 1851 in guiWeather, and sort them by year, name and strength?
